At MRC, our commitment to addressing the issue of mental health is an important one. The escalation in the number of individuals struggling with mental health issues is a matter of concern. Consequently, we have dedicated ourselves to providing comprehensive support for our team and their mental wellbeing.
This couldn’t have come at a better time as, in line with recent findings highlighted in The Guardian’s article titled “Millions of UK Parents Grappling with Mental Health“, 61% of respondents participating in a Unicef UK survey have expressed notable concerns regarding their mental well-being. This concern is compounded by the continued rise in the cost of living; 68% of parents dealing with the added challenge of a lack of affordable and high-quality childcare. These parents also believe that the government’s efforts in supporting individuals raising young children fall short of their expectations.
24/7 Support
We recognise the importance of being there for our team. To this end we offer, through our healthcare plan, a safe space where they can find support to improve their mental health and wellbeing via an online community. They’ll have access to a range of tools, such as assessments, courses and journals, as well as the online community to connect anonymously with people who they can relate to.
Talking Therapy
If self-care options aren’t right for the team member, or they would prefer to talk to a therapist, they can refer themselves to talking therapy. Talking therapies are available for all employees over the age of 18. All of our employees are initially covered for a minimum of 8 sessions of talking therapy.
